As a student, it is common to have a wanted or even dream university to go to once you are done in school. However, the problem of misinformation is a constant especially due to how far we are from the majority of schools internationally. Lucky to all here in the British School, our Careers and Universities department is quick in finding an answer to that question; University Meetings. One of the mentioned meetings works as a 30-60 minute talk to a university representative, normally the admissions officer responsible for Latin America, where students and parents alike can attend. The representative makes a presentation about the school and then gives a period for which all of your queries can be answered. Until now, the schools that have attended the meetings are as follows: University of Chicago Cambridge University London School of Economics Savannah College of Art and Design FGV While the list is not exhaustive, all are high-level, well-known universities in their respective fields that could be a student’s goal when the time comes. There is also another type of meeting that occurs, especially at the start of the year when students haven’t decided what summer program they would like to attend if at all. Those meetings have the same style, however, instead of pitching the university the officers focus on short summer programs, 1-6 week stays in a university during summer break where you can study while discovering the city and making new friends. Universities that have come to talk about their respective Summer Programs were: Boston University Northeastern 2024 In conclusion, the initiative taken by the Careers and Universities department to organize these meetings with university representatives is invaluable for students’ academic and career development. Therefore, it is imperative to keep your eyes peeled for any meetings in the future, normally announced in your careers and university Google classroom.
