Looking Back and Moving Forward

We’ve just wrapped up Trimester 2, which we all know can be pretty tough with all the tests, projects, and everything else we’ve got going on. But we made it! Now, we’re heading into Trimester 3, the last leg of our school year, and it’s super important to give it our best shot.

This next trimester is our chance to pull up our grades, nail those final projects, and end the year on a high note. Think of it like the last quarter of a game, this is where we can really shine. Whether you’re getting ready to graduate or just moving up a grade, what we do now can make a big difference.

If there were any subjects that gave you a hard time last trimester, now’s the time to get some extra help. Don’t be shy about asking teachers for advice or teaming up with friends who can help you out. And remember, it’s not just about studying harder but also smarter.

I’ve selected a couple of tips I think were crucial for me, specially in this first IB years that I’d like to share.

  1. Make it a Routine: Try to study at the same time each day. Even if it’s just for a little while, it helps to make studying a normal part of your day.
  2. Keep Things Neat: Make sure your study area is clean and you have all your stuff ready before you start. It’s way easier to focus when you’re not surrounded by clutter.
  3. Set Small Goals: Instead of trying to do everything at once, set small goals for each study session. Maybe today you finish a math worksheet, or you read a chapter of your science book. Small goals make big tasks feel more manageable.
  4. Take Breaks: Don’t forget to rest your brain. Studying for too long without a break can make it harder to remember what you’ve learned. Try studying for 25 minutes, then taking a 5-minute break.
  5. Ask for Help: If there’s something you don’t understand, ask someone. It could be a teacher, a classmate, or maybe a family member. It’s okay not to know everything!

As we dive into Trimester 3, let’s keep these tips in mind and give it our all. Don’t forget to check out the “Student Life” section in our Falcons Chronicle for more tips and tricks. Let’s make this a great trimester!
