And with the ISSL season right around the corner, we here at the falcons chronicle believe its important to touch base with some of our varsity teams, and get an insight on how morale, and expectations are to the upcoming season/tournament from the 25th to the 29th of September.
Firstly we talked to the men’s varsity soccer team centre back Allan Bennesby, when asked about expectations, Bennesby talked about how chemistry and mentality is key for the group, and how the team is gunning for gold. In the Rio de Janeiro Interscholastic Sports League,(RJISL) the Falcons went 3-0 in the group stage and are through to the semifinals, showing big promise.
Transitioning to men’s varsity Basketball, Rodrigo Castelo Branco, Power Forward for the Falcons was interviewed. When asked about prospects for the upcoming tournament, Branco expressed the team’s determination to win the gold medal, emphasising the need for hustle, work ethic and a hard nosed mentality to do so. The Basketball team was a standout in the RJISL, going 2-0 in the group stage and moving to semifinals undefeated.
The female teams are also promising entering the next tournament, in which both the basketball and soccer varsity teams came out victorious on at least on of the local league games.
