Among the many co-curricular activities where tbsrj students may identify themselves with, one would certainly stand out to the more artistic kind as a means of self expression and teamwork. Last year, the Drama Club rose to scene as a student-led initiative, with the goal to produce a school play. Since 2019, with “Mamma Mia”, tbs has not had the pleasure of witnessing another production, which used to be a grand community event all would be excited for. After five years, now year thirteen student Helena Jonathan, created the Drama Club so that this exciting tradition would return and not suffer such a hiatus again.
Contrary to popular belief, drama clubs are not only reserved for the so called “theater kids” so anyone from all year groups is able to join. The ones that decide to join this group would soon develop public-speaking, memory, body language and social skills, proving that the drama room can be a space where every student may come out of their shell to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
The cast members of the newest production of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” have undergone countless rehearsals in singing, acting and even dancing, these past months to ensure the best musical the club would have to offer. At last, the two showing nights will be held Friday 14th and Saturday 15th of march, both nights at 19:00.
The revival of the Drama Club at tbsrj marks the return of a cherished tradition, bringing students of all ages together through creativity and dedication. With the upcoming production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the club has proven to be more than just a space for theater enthusiasts—it is a platform for personal growth, confidence-building, and community engagement. As the curtain rises in three weeks time, the hard work and passion of the cast and crew will come to life, reigniting the school’s love for the performing arts and ensuring that this tradition continues for years to come.
